Travis Neighbor Ward is an author of fiction and nonfiction, as well as a freelancer magazine and Web writer.  Her 0412_ComeFindMe_eBookdebut novel COME FIND ME was published in April 2014 by Northside Books, and stayed on the Top 100 Paid Bestseller lists on Amazon.com for seven weeks.

The Atlantan Anniversary Issue CoverFrom 2005 until December 2007, Travis successfully launched and served as Editor in Chief of The Atlantan, the monthly lifestyle/​fashion luxury magazine published by Modern Luxury Inc. Within just one year in print, Travis led The Atlantan to win five GAMMA awards from the Magazine Association of the Southeast (MAGS) in the “consumer/​paid revenues more than $1 million” category. The awards included Best Single Issue, Best Series, and Best Photography.

From 2002 through 2005, Travis successfully launched and served as Editor of Atlanta Magazine’s HOME, the quarterly, high-end shelter magazine from Emmis Publishing. Simultaneously, she was the Home and Garden Editor of Atlanta Magazine, Emmis’ monthly city maDepartures Magazine Covergazine, producing feature stories and contributing to the “Best of Atlanta” awards. Under her leadership, Atlanta Magazine’s HOME won 15 GAMMA awards from the Magazine Association of the Southeast (MAGS) in the “consumer/​paid less than $1 million” category. They included awards for General Excellence, Best Journalism, and Best Service Journalism.

Amh_color_winteFrom 1998 through 2001, Travis served first as Senior Editor in New York, then as Contributing Editor in Atlanta, to Departures Magazine, the national luxury lifestyle magazine for American Express Platinum Card holders. During her tenure, she edited and wrote for almost every section of the award-winning magazine.

While in New York, Travis also served as the U.S. Bureau Manager of L’Espresso, the Italian weekly news-lifestyle magazine.

The second edition of her nonfiction book Living, Studying, and Working in Italy was published by Henry Holt in January 2003. It is an original trade paperback, which she co-authored with journalist-travel writer Monica Larner. The book received rave reviews from Travel & LeisureUSA Today, and ABC news, among others. The first edition was published in 1998.

Lswii-final-210She has been a guest host on Turner South’s TV show “Southern Home By Design,” and has appeared on “Good Day Atlanta.” Travis has also worked as a research consultant for the A&E Television Network, where she collaborated on documentaries for “Biography” and “Investigative Reports.”

Before becoming a professional writer and editor, Travis taught writing courses at Lesley College and Fisher College in Boston, in addition to English as a Second Language (ESL) courses at institutes there and in Italy.

She received her M.A. and B.A. magna cum laude in writing and English from the University of Pennsylvania in May 1990, and is a member of The Authors Guild.
